Modlites tackle grueling festive schedule

This Christmas/new year holiday period sees the Modlites Queensland club undertake its most gruelling schedule ever. Known as the Edge racing Speedweek competitors will descend on speedway venues in unprecedented fashion. Up for grabs is a chassis and body brought to the table by Edge Racing.

The action gets underway with a Speedweek prelude on boxing night at Archerfield Speedway. This incorporates round 4 of the Pro Race Cars - Pro Series.

From there the teams will travel North to take in rounds 1 and 2 of the Edge Racing Speedweek series. This will also double as the Queensland State title. Maryborough is the host venue on December 28 and 29. A small break is then in order with round 3 and 4 of the speed week series hitting Archerfield speedway in Brisbane on January 3 and 5. The final round will be held in Lismore on January 6. This sees 6 nights of racing over an 11 day period.

“It makes sense to run such a compact schedule over the holiday period. With thanks to Edge racing we have been able to offer a lucrative prize and entice some interstate competitors to join us over the festive season. We have doubled up some events to incorporate the prestigious molecule backed Queensland title to save some logistic challenges for the far travelled racers.” State President Robert Hardy said.

South Australian visitor Graham Knuckey is one interstate competitor looking at taking the titles and prizes back home. “We hit the Queensland scene for some events last season and it has always been our teams goal to make the trip back. Having so many meetings in a row is very attractive to see where we sit on a national scale. Queensland has some of the most competitive drivers and along with fellow South Aussie Danny Prade we are certainly looking at showing them what we have.”

Tim Luscombe, Trent Mclean and former Qld champion Will Butler will lead the charge from NSW. Both seasoned campaigners with lots of experience will certainly be contenders looking to wrestle the title from current back to back champion Terry Leerentveld. Terry one of the form drivers of the season will be joined by fellow queenslanders including Australian champion Aaron Prosser. Aaron a big night performer will be looking to add another number 1 to his door and is certainly one to watch. Current NSW champion Klinton Hancey is locked into the line up. Having already captured feature wins this season he is the form Qld driver. Sean rose another feature winner this season will be trying hard to grab his first blue ribbon win in the division. Other Qld hard chargers Scott Lehfeldt, Robert hardy, Nathan Politch and Brad Dawson can not be discounted as well as Modlite rookies Dallas Czerwinski, Neil Gregson and Sam Gollschewsky who have all set the field alite over the early part of the season.

All in all it looks set to be an amazing series with delivery of a new chassis to the series winner. Get yourself trackside to Maryborough, Brisbane and Lismore as Modlites Queensland tackle this gruelling schedule.
